#1 Free NCD protector
A NCD (No Claim Discount) refers to the discount you get on your car insurance premium and rewards safe drivers for their driving. This starts at 10% if you do not make any insurance claims in the past 1 year and will increase by 10% every year up to a maximum of 50% NCD.
Having a NCD protector protects your NCD by allowing you to make a claim from your policy without this claim affecting your NCD. Without a NCD protector, your NCD will be reduced by 30% upon a claim.
While some insurers may require you to pay an additional fee for your NCD protector, you may be eligible for a free NCD protector from FWD and Sompo.

#2 Free adjustable excess
An excess for car insurance refers to the amount you have to first pay for your claim before your insurer compensates the cost of your loss. In singapore, most of the car insurance plans will come with an excess as insurers typically use these to reduce the number of small claims.
As a general rule of thumb, the higher your excess is, the lower the premiums you will have to pay and vice versa. Therefore, should you wish to enjoy lower car insurance premiums, you may consider adjusting your payable excess to a higher amount. However, as this will require you to pay a larger upfront amount in future accident, do ensure that you are comfortable with the chosen excess amount. Additionally, do note that inexperienced drivers and/or young drivers who are deemed as a higher risk to insurers may be subjected to additional excess.
Adjustable excess available from AIG, Allianz, FWD, MSIG and Sompo car insurance plans.

#3 Free unnamed drivers
Coverage for drivers can generally be categorised into three groups:
- Named drivers only
- Unnamed drivers allowed but with additional excess required in the event of a claim
- Unnamed drivers receive full coverage (i.e. anyone who you authorise to drive your car will be given coverage under your policy)
While most car insurance plans require you to name your drivers in order for them to be covered under your policy, did you know that there are plans that allows coverage even for unnamed drivers? An unnamed driver refers to an individual who is driving your car but is not named in your car insurance policy.
If you have multiple drivers in your family, consider choosing a plan that allows all named and unnamed drivers to receive full coverage. For example, FWD’s Executive or Prestige car insurance plans covers both named and unnamed drivers. This allows anyone you trust to drive your car to be insured under your policy.
