Many Singaporeans enjoy heading over to Batam and Bintan for a relaxing weekend getaway. But did you know that these 2 islands have more to offer than just cheap seafood and massages? With golf courses, water sports, sand dunes and waterparks, these variety of activities will cater to every type of traveler.
However, if you are looking for something different, then look no further than Karimun Island. Slightly further away from Singapore, Karimun Island is a 90 minutes ferry ride away with only 2 tour operators serving daily ferry rides to the island. However, we promise this is worth the effort to get to with white sandy beaches, clear waters and rainforests dotting the island. Go snorkeling and diving, island hopping, hiking or even swim with the sharks on Karimun Island.

Lastly, if you a plane or ferry ride is not to your fancy, you could always hop on a bus for a quick trip to Malaysia. While Genting’s outdoor theme park may still be under construction, their recently revamped indoor theme park and outlet shopping should suffice to entertain for a short 4 day trip. Otherwise, consider heading to Cameron Highlands to visit strawberry and tea farms while enjoying the cooling weather up in the mountains. Alternatively, pop over to Malacca to enjoy a foodie holiday if you prefer a shorter coach ride to your destination.
