An all-rounder travel insurance plan, FWD’s plan with Covid-19 add-on offers individuals an affordable option for comprehensive travel insurance coverage. This includes up to $5,000 coverage for trip cancellation and curtailment. Apart from providing coverage in the event of a Covid-19 diagnosis, FWD will also cover if you or your travelling companion is denied boarding for a public transport due to a failed temperature check or show Covid-19 symptoms and is subsequently diagnosed with Covid-19. Do take note that FWD has a 72 hours waiting period for claims related to pre-trip Covid-19 benefits such as trip cancellation and/or postponement.
Additionally, FWD is one of the only insurers to offer Covid-19 quarantine and hospitalisation allowance for both overseas or upon return to Singapore. This provides assurance knowing that we are still covered should we be diagnosed with Covid-19 upon returning to Singapore. FWD will even cover for the purchase of Antigen Rapid Test (ART) self-test kits used to monitor your recovery progress!
FWD also has an automatic policy extension for Covid-19 related conditions of up to 21 days. NTUC’s single-trip travel plan, pre-existing travel plan and annual travel insurance plan will also automatically include Covid-19 coverage in their policies.
While the trip cancellation benefit limit is not the highest at $2,000, we feel that the conditions covered are rather broad. This covers for a positive Covid-19 diagnosis, mandatory self-isolation or quarantine, or if if you or your travel companion is denied boarding due to a failed temperature check or display Covid-19 symptoms and subsequently tests positive. Policies have a 3 day waiting period for pre-trip Covid-19 benefits such as trip cancellation and/or postponement.
