Health insurance helps pay for health care costs in the event of an injury, illness or disability. In general, such plans will fall into two categories: (1) Hospital, and (2) Long-term care.
(1) Hospital plans: Hospital insurance should be prioritised as the foundation of your insurance needs. While all Singaporeans and Permanent Residents are covered under MediShield Life, such plans do not provide as-charged coverage and only offers coverage for Class B2 or C wards in public hospitals.
(2) Long-term care: Payouts from CareShield Life will commence when you are unable to perform 3 out of 6 activities of daily living (ADL). Supplement CareShield Life to receive higher monthly pay-outs if you are disabled and unable to perform 1 or 2 ADLs as specified in your policy.
